Saxon Math is a scientifically research based program that builds student understanding cumulatively based on the premise that intellectual skills can be broken into simpler skills, which can in turn be broken into even simpler skills. The use of manipulatives, practice of concepts, problem-solving, written and oral explanation opportunities and assessment prepare students for successful standardized testing.
Reading Mastery/Horizons Direct Instruction (DI) is the primary literacy curriculum and instructional methodology. DI is a highly researched, skills based curriculum, which utilizes a series of tightly sequenced and scripted lessons to teach reading. With an emphasis on phonics there is no program proven more effective than DI for teaching children to read. Other reading programs include Read 180, Jr. Great Books and Read Naturally.
Harcourt Language offers logical organization with weekly chapters, grammar instruction integrated with writing, plenty of practice and daily writing writing opportunities, vocabulary lessons and solid preparation for standardized tests. Other language programs include Zaner Bloser Spelling.
WISE Charter School utilizes a holistic approach to education. This means our highly dedicated staff support each child's social, emotional and academic development through a diverse range of
programs and curricula.
Values WISE studies the history, values and culture of many people, and celebrates the struggles, contributions and achievements of African people throughout the world. WISE uses its monthly activities of “Book of the Month” and “Virtue of the Month” to encourage learning activities, which children, staff and parents all enjoy.

Step Up to Writing teaches students to write clear, concise and organized paragraphs, reports, essays and narratives. By utilizing organizational strategies students gain the skills necessary to become solid writers. Other writing programs include Handwriting Without Tears.
Core Knowledge is a detailed outline of specific content to be taught in every classroom. It defines what every student should know at every grade level in every discipline. Core Knowledge covers our social studies, science, literature, art and music components.
