Mission Statement
WISE exists to ensure the academic and social development of students while restoring the essence of the family and community with an emphasis on academic achievement, cultural awareness and responsible citizenship.

Philosophy
Children are at the heart of everything we do. Each child is entitled to learn and develop in a positive, rich environment, which promotes self-determination, self-respect and respect for their heritage. We believe that each child is capable of meeting high academic and social standards thus becoming knowledgeable, skilled and confident citizens.

Everyone (students, staff, families and community) must contribute to the harmony and holistic being of the entire school community.

About WISE
WISE is a growing school. We currently enroll just under 300 students in Kindergarten through seventh grade with plans to expand to eighth grade in 2009. Specialized curriculum, dedicated staff, a variety of student programs, small class sizes and individualized attention are key benefits our students experience. We are a data driven school and using the principles of the Nguzo Saba we strive to achieve the goals set forth in our Mission Statement. WISE is located in North Minneapolis, which makes up a large percentage of our population, although we also welcome students from 16 other public school districts.
